We are currently scheduling orientation dates for summertime soup kitchen volunteers (18 and over; 16-17 year olds with an adult). On-site volunteers prepare food in our large kitchen, serve meals for our guests in our dining room, and box up meals that we prepare for our to-go window. They also keep the dining room tidy and clean, bussing and wiping down tables.

Volunteers must be vaccinated and are scheduled one day a week (on the same day every week), 8AM-Noon, Monday-Friday. We ask for a minimum three-month commitment

If you can't volunteer on-site, we also have off-site opportunities, such as sandwich making, cooking, baking, running canned food drives, and transporting rescued/donated food.

You can learn more and contact us on our website. Please read the FAQ section for important information to make an informed decision.

In honor of April showers bringing May flowers, we're pleased to give a shout-out to our friends at Mary Magdalen House (known by many as Shower House). MMH is a personal care facility just a couple blocks from us where guests can receive a shower and clean clothing, use the toilet, shave, use a phone, and receive mail. We see many of the same faces and are always confident that our guests will be in good hands when we refer them to MMH.

Show our friends some love! They are currently in need of donations of new and used t-shirts, new washcloths, new women's underwear in sizes 5 and 6, and any men's or women's clothing in good condition.

Up to 40% of food produced in the U.S. goes uneaten, but at Our Daily Bread, we rescue good food that deserves a second chance. In honor of Earth Day last week, we decided to calculate (roughly) the impact of our food-rescue operation.

According to ReFED’s food waste impact calculator, in 2021, the food we rescued took 19.33 MILLION gallons of water to produce, and we diverted a whopping 473 tons of CO2. We served 160,076 meals using 100% rescued and donated food.

…Not to toot our own horn, but that’s a huge impact!

We exceeded it! The total amount donated for our 2022 spring fund drive was $9,785. Let that stew for a minute. (That's our last meat pun, we promise.)

Thank you so much to everyone who gave and everyone who helped spread the word. We very much appreciate your generosity.

If you haven't checked out our 2021 Annual Report, we welcome you to do so! We had a big year, and we're happy to share the highlights.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your ongoing support!
