| | | This summer, the heat has been on! Thankfully, we and our guests have been cooling off and hydrating with donations of Gatorade and Propel mixes, iced tea, and lots of water. On the hottest days, we've been handing out cold drinks about as fast as we can pour them. And after service hours, our outdoor water tap on the Elder St. side of our building is always available for anyone to stop and get some H2O. On top of that, we got an almost-overwhelming amount of cucumbers donated in June! As we worked our way through them, we served some delicious cucumber salad with meals every day, and we were slicing them up to put in baggies with ranch dressing for snack bags. Our to-go window has been open for on-the-go guests to get meals, snack bags and drinks, and our dining room and rest areas have provided a respite from the heat for many. |

| | | We're excited to celebrate our founder's birthday! Cookie Vogelpohl was a force for good, and we'd love to give our guests home-baked cookies in her honor. If you have a knack for baking, sign up for a cookie donation drop-off slot (no parking necessary!) for August 17th or 18th (7am-Noon). To give the day some extra flair, put please a couple cookies each in festive bags so they're ready for us to hand out. Who knows, "Cookies for Cookie" may become a tradition around here! |
| | Not into baking but want to honor Cookie's birthday? Consider donating $81 for what would have been her 81st birthday on 8/18. Donate online here. |

| | | βIt was such a special experience seeing all these people contribute towards Our Daily Breadβs mission, even more so knowing that this was something I was able to help create." Want to peek behind the curtain of our summer fundraiser? Our Digital Marketing Intern, Kate, reflected on her experience working on our Festival of FUNds in a post on our blog. |

|
| | | It's almost back-to-school time! That means our summer volunteers are wrapping up their time with us, and we're scheduling new on-site soup kitchen volunteer orientations for the fall. On-site volunteers prepare food in our large kitchen, serve meals for our guests in our dining room, and box up meals that we prepare for our to-go window. They also keep the dining room tidy and clean, bussing and wiping down tables. |
| | If you can't volunteer on-site, we also have some great off-site volunteer opportunities! Get together with your family, friends, church, or another group to make sandwiches as a team. Or, take on some cooking or baking at home by yourself or with youngsters in your family! Learn more here. |

| | | A couple months ago, we gave a big warm welcome BACK to Sarah from Hamilton County Quick Response Team (QRT)! Throughout Covid, she was visiting us and serving meals once a week, building rapport with our guests. After some time away, she has returned in a different capacity- visiting on Wednesdays to offer recovery resources and distribute harm reduction supplies, hygiene kits, and more, with the QRT. Sarah is non-judgmental, sincere, and friendly, and that makes our guests feel comfortable talking to her, even about highly-sensitive issues. They know they can trust her and even look forward to seeing her. We're so glad to welcome her back to continue her awesome work with our guests. |

|
| | | We need to make room for new inventory, so Our Daily Bread t-shirts are on sale for just $10 each! Show your love for your favorite soup kitchen in four different designs. Plus, cook books and totes are $10 each, too! All funds go toward our operation of feeding people while reducing food waste. |
| |
|
| | | Finally, we'd like to express our gratitude to all our supporters who help out in a ton of different ways- wonderful people who volunteer on site, make sandwiches and other foods at home, spread the word about us, provide transportation for food rescues, purchase food and supplies from our Amazon wishlist, send us monetary donations, organize canned food drives, and more! We appreciate you. |

| And that's a wrap- you made it through all our updates! Thanks for reading! |
